Merry Wives of Windsor

Merry Wives of Windsor

William Shakespeare

Directed by Avis Hatcher-Puzzo, Molly Malone, and Jeremy Fiebig

Made up of equal parts Downton Abbey and Brooklyn 9-9, The Merry Wives of Windsor tells the story of a quarry too clever to be caught. The vain and boastful Sir John Falstaff pursues two housewives, Mistress Ford and Mistress Page, who, rather than be caught,  wield their wit and resourcefulness to outwit the unsuspecting Falstaff. In addition to this unlikely courtship, three other suitors seek the hand of Anne Page, Mistress Page’s daughter.

This light-bodied production begins with hazy notes of marital mistrust, which introduces tantalizingly audacious and cheeky flavors of intrigue. The approachable notes of humor, blended with hints of equitable reprisal, make it the perfect sip on a summer evening. You may even detect an element of mischief.

The cast includes Traycie Kuhn-Zapata, Jen Pommerenke, Anne Talkington, Jessie Wise, Taj Allen, Evan Bridenstine, Cheleen Sugar-Ducksworth, Jennifer Czechowski, Aaron Alderman, Catherine Kelly, Nathan Pearce, Tohry Petty, Ahmahd Moore, and Gabe Terry.

Jacob French provides music direction.
